Albertson’s Grocery Stores, William Atwell
“The audit and retrofit was conducted in the presence of Don Devan from Albertson’s and the Watermiser Team and our professional plumber on June 29 and concluding on June 30. The retrofit was a success and resulted in a 23% water conservation savings after the Watermiser™ Flow Control Valves were installed. The bulk of the retrofit required the use of three Watermiser™ FCV configurations, 1.25gpm for hand sinks, 1.75gpm for preparation sinks and 2.50gpm for utensil sinks as denoted on the attached case study within this email. Albertson’s annual water savings with Watermiser™ Flow Control Valves is now projected at $7,383.”
C & L Supply, Dario Jimenez (The Distribution Company hired to take on the Sustainability Project for Huntington Memorial Hospital)
“In November of 2007 Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena approached us looking for a way to control the flow rate of their faucets without the use of aerators. Federal and State regulations dictate that traditional aerators are not permitted for use in Health Care Facilities in California.
After initial testing showed current Water Flow to be averaging 6 GPM the Watermiser Flow Control Valves were reading 1.5 GPM, showing a savings of up to 35%. In December of 2007, Huntington asked us to expand the Project to include all buildings in the Hospital.
After installing FCV’s throughout the hospital, water savings occurred and “splashing”, which was also a problem because of the aerators being removed, also stopped.
Pasadena Water and Power provided funding for the installation of the FCV’s to Huntington Memorial, in conjunction with other water saving measures.
Huntington Memorial saw savings of over one million gallons of water in the first year after the Project was initiated.
